Explore the Narcissa Niblack Thorne Miniature Rooms collection at the Art Institute Chicago website. Choose a room and model to scale in SketchUp. Turn room model into a horror scene.
STATEMENT
I chose Thorne's E-22: French Provincial Bedroom of the Louis XV Period, 18th Century, c. 1937. I chose this room to model because of the wainscoting detail and bedroom perspective. Having the project's horror task in mind, I at first pictured an exorcism happening in this room. However, when it came time to transfer my model to PhotoShop and begin the horror work, I decided to have a bit more fun. Inspired by "Stranger Things", I imagined this 18th century room in the Upside Down and knew that this avenue would offer me more of a challenge in modeling, lighting, texture, and painting.
